Hi there
INNW Magazine – the short story..
We created this magazine for everyone who has that one idea, that bucket list, that life change that they want to make, but they’ve never been able to get started.
We want to inspire you to head off to that destination that calls out to you, to start that side hustle that you’ve been thinking about, or simply to get outside and move your body more.
Make that change, do that thing!
As Mark Twain said – ‘the secret of getting ahead is getting started’ so why is it that getting started is often so difficult? We aim to help you with that.
Each month we’ll post features showing you how to get started, sharing stories of people who have taken that once in a lifetime journey, made that career change, or got themselves on the road to fitness and health.
Our mantra is ‘if not now, when?’ After all, none of know how long we’ve got to work our way through that list, but we do know that we just need to get started, right?
We will be that encouraging voice telling you to do it, do it now!
THE LONG STORY…
Editor’s note (TW – bereavement)
My parents passed away recently, within a few months of each other. It was a devastating loss and something that I’m still trying to process. I have my good days, where I appreciate how fortunate I was to have two loving, caring parents. I have my bad days too where everything seems futile. If those two people who were in my life forever can just be gone, and that’s that, then what is the point?
Mostly though, it has given me a newfound understanding of just how short life really is.
As I’ve been sorting out the family home, the one that they had lived in throughout their entire 57 years of marriage, I realised something. My Dad always talked about visiting Nashville for the country music festival. He talked about it almost as if he wanted to make a pilgrimage to what he thought of as the home of country music, the music that he loved & gave him so much pleasure.
It was a pretty simple dream, and something that he could have done relatively easily, but somehow, he never did.
As I was going through his record collection it hit me that he never will make that pilgrimage now, and I found that overwhelmingly sad. The worst thing is, I can’t think of a single reason why he never went. He just never got started with a plan to do it.
So, I decided that it was time to act. I’d had an idea of starting a magazine or blog of some kind for some time but – you guessed it – I just never got started.
That’s how ‘if not now, when’ (INNW) Magazine came to be, an online magazine dedicated to taking action. Getting started on those bucket list adventures, taking those first steps towards a change of career, doing it NOW, because tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.
I hope to inspire people to make the change that they’ve been thinking about, to stop worrying too much about what might go wrong, what other people might think and to just get started! I’ll be talking to people who’ve made the leap and had the most amazing bucket list adventures, people who’ve made a career change and never looked back. In fact, anyone that I think can offer inspiration!
As well as this I’ll be sharing news, views and reviews that I think you’ll enjoy, and running some exciting competitions with great prizes. Oh, and I will be sharing recipes too, because no one wants to start an adventure on an empty stomach!
